Holiday Plans Empty Holiday Plans

Post by Dracobolt Fri Nov 11, 2022 3:04 pm

For the first time in forever (well, four years), I get to have a normal holiday season! Loved this time of year when I was growing up, and my last job made it impossible to have a life from October through early December. This year I'm gonna enjoy it. Bought a small artificial Christmas tree that I'm gonna set up this weekend, and I'm ordering some stuff as presents to wrap so it feels like an event to open them. I can't wait to see Sammy freak out about the tree, lol.

Love the idea! We also bought a small artificial tree, but we ended up having to limit what we do with it because our cats would always try to chew on the branches.... because they're very dumb. Wrapping them is very nice, though!

I put a wrapped present under Mia's pillow one year, a kind of weird Christmas + Tooth Fairy combo, hahaha.

That’s a new one, lol. Oh, I want to get little stockings for the kitties too. Will definitely post pics!

NOICE. Are you going to have to put like a baby gate around the tree?

Thanksgiving always means going to my husband's mom's boyfriend's house and eating very '50s-American-mayonnaise-and-crisco-food, which means I spend the day mentally checked out. Then I'm going to set up Christmas lights and a tree for the first time in our new home, which is exciting. Very Happy

So far she is too cautious to cause trouble, and I think Ty is leaving it alone. When I bring out the ornaments, though, we'll have to see.

Setting up decorations in your new house sounds like a dream! I hope you and Ben have fun, make a party of it!

I waited until Sammy woke up from her nap to decorate. She came over and I let her sniff them and watch me, and she was respectful. Tyson doesn't seem to have taken an especial interest in them, so that's a relief.

Sammy reminds me of a baby pulling herself up, trying to see the special new thing.

She is a baby.

Also, another holiday plan idea. Christmas movie streaming night with friends. Should set that up!

I'd join! I remember you did a Halloween one for ToK at some point, I think! A good low key way for people to do an activity together. Very Happy

We had to put a baby gate around our tree last year... for the baby.

We'll probably put it outside this year and see how it goes, but I'm going to have a really low threshold for shenanigans.
